Fall brings with it some very exciting shows at festivals in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. I can’t wait to play the acclaimed Celtic Colours Internationa Festival (www.celtic-colours.com) with artists from all over the world and some who, like me, are returning home to play the festival. My Celtic Colours show is called “Roots to the Future” at the Gaelic College on Saturday October 16th at 2pm. It’s the culmination of a day dream of mine – I’ve paired up four young Cape Breton songwriters (Steven MacDougall, Carleton Stone, Fiona MacGillivray and myself!) with four young Cape Breton tune makers (Rachel Davis, Colin Grant, Rosie MacKenzie and Ryan J MacNeil). We’ve written new songs/tunes based on traditionals. I can’t wait for you all to hear these excellent new songs!

Saturday, October 16th – 2pm
I’m also coming home to support the second annual Cabot Trail Writers Festival (www.cabottrailwritersfestival.com), a festival that’s dear to my heart as it takes place in my own back yard in North River and the North Shore. They offer a variety of writing workshops, readings, a new play by Bev Brett based on an Alistair McLeod story and lots more.
