These days it’s hard to tell what time it is. Grey light presses in through the windows from the street and I count the hours backward, trying to discern the time of day, the time of year, the decade…

Aren’t we all too busy? Remember being a child, when you spent infinite time digging rocks from the soil then reburying them with the scuffed end of your sneaker? I write songs like that. The same words dug up then set back into the soil in the constant ceremony of song.
I’m home from the road for a bit. My typewriter resting. In a month I’ll dust it off and ask its forgiveness for my neglect. We will both be too proud to admit we missed each other.
